Wisconsin is a state located in the north-central United States and is considered part of the Midwest. It is bordered by Minnesota to the west, Iowa to the southwest, Illinois to the south, Lake Michigan to the east, Michigan to the northeast, and Lake Superior to the north. The capital is Madison, and the largest city is Milwaukee. There were an estimated 5.6 million residents in 2008.

Wisconsin's landscape makes the state popular for outdoor recreation due to the many lakes, streams, and rolling hills. Popular attractions include Door County, Wisconsin Dells, and the northern forest and lake region.
